Move your application from the “maybe” pile to the “yes” pile.
Personalized college entrance essay coaching to help you tell your story, your way.
Your college entrance essay matters more than ever before
College admissions are more competitive and complex than ever. Parents can no longer trust their own college application experience to know what their children will face. Students who want to go to a highly-regarded school can expect to compete with a great many applicants with equally impressive grades and test scores.
How do they distinguish themselves?
Answer: the essay.
It is with the essay that students show who they are and how they would contribute to the campus community—the central questions of college admissions officers. This is especially true for prestigious schools. Generally speaking, the more competitive the school, the more weight its admissions officers give to the essay.

What’s On My Mind
Your authentic voice. Your unique story. Told your way.
My name is Kenton de Kirby. I hold a doctorate in education from UC Berkeley (and a BA in linguistics). I’m a professional writer, and I’ve been helping high school students write exceptional college essays for over 10 years.
My site is called Essay Your Way because that’s how it has to be: your authentic voice, your writing style, your story. In this regard, there is a world of difference between good essay coaches and mediocre essay coaches.
Mediocre college essay coaches may be skilled writers, but they only know how to write in their particular style. In the worst-case scenario, their “coaching” may even approach ghost-writing. Ghost-writing is blatantly unethical, but even mediocre essay coaching can jeopardize the student’s future. After all, admissions officers are no fools—they know how to spot the overly polished essay a mile away.
Truly exceptional college essay coaches know how to help you write your story in your voice. They love getting to know high school students, and they know what college admissions officers are looking for.
